Appalachian Mountain Stream 2

Fall color along pristine Appalachian Mountain streams is the ultimate escape from life’s stresses. The continuous splashing of the water over the natural boulders is soothing, less than a roar but more than a whisper. The tannings from the red spruce, hemlock, and other decomposing tree leaves stain the water a brownish-red. The lichens, bacteria, and other tiny beings plastered to the rocks within the high water line form fascinating designs that are also influenced by the tannin-stained water.
