This winter scene is comprised of American lotus (Nelumbo lutea) stems and fruit pods emerging from a lake where the snowy forest beyond is also reflected in the water. The vertical nature of the lotus and reflected trees add an interesting dynamic that was only possible with temperatures that allowed for snow without freezing the lake water.
